Gareth grew up and was educated in Northern Ireland. His insurance career started in 1986, when he joined Cornhill Insurance as a personal lines underwriter in their Belfast Branch. In his early career the main focus was on motor underwriting, both in Personal Lines and Commercial Lines, spending time working in various branch offices across the UK. His career then took him to Allianz head office roles, initially in the product development area of Commercial lines before a switch back to Personal Lines in the early 2000’s, which included a spell as Business Manager which included responsibility for implementing GISC and FSA regulations in the business. The later 2000’s saw various positions being held in underwriting and pricing functions, including Household Manager and Head of Telematics. Just prior to leaving Allianz in 2013, Gareth’s responsibilities also included being Head of Non Motor Retail business in the Global team based in Munich. In April 2013, after 27 years with Allianz, Gareth sought his next challenge within Zurich where he currently holds the position of Underwriting and Pricing Director for Personal Lines.
