Dr. Andreas Nemeth is an entrepreneur, innovator and investor now CEO of UNIQA Ventures GmbH, the Venture Capital firm of UNIQA Insurance Group AG, one of the leading insurance carriers in Central & Eastern Europe, pioneering corporate-backed venture capital in Austria and CEE.

Andreas has over 20 years of professional experience in the Banking and Insurance Industry. In 1999 he was one of the founders of caibon.com, the online brokerage subsidiary of CA IB Investment Bank AG, before launching brokerjet.com, an online brokerage firm in 2000, which was later integrated into Erste Bank Group. Both companies can be considered the first FinTech Startups in Austria although, by that time, the term FinTech had yet to be invented. He joined the insurance industry in 2002 working in different management roles for Allianz Group gaining from the ground up experience and knowledge of the insurance market, products and value chain from Sales, Product Management, Operations to Asset and Risk Management.

Andreas joined UNIQA in 2011 as Head of Group Controlling in charge of group-wide strategic planning, performance and cost management along with executing M&A and Corporate Finance transactions.

In 2016 he was announced Head of Group Strategy & Innovation to drive radial Innovation enabling UNIQA’s vision 2030 and leading the UNIQA Ventures Team implementing Venture Capital investments and Start-up cooperation.

Today he is the CEO of UNIQA Ventures GmbH, the venture capital firm of UNIQA Insurance Group, investing in outstanding business models driven by strong teams with a clear vision to shape the future of key industries such as Health, Mobility, Smart Home and Financial Services from Banking to Insurance.

He holds a master degree in Business Administration from Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration and received a PhD from University of St. Gallen, Switzerland for his empirical research in the field of Strategic Management on Business Model Innovation in Incumbent Firms.
