Themba is a Founder and Executive Director of Discovery Insure Ltd, a Short-term Insurance Company launched in 2011. He joined Discovery in 2001 working on numerous initiatives where his role ultimately led to his 10-year vision launch of Discovery Insure. Themba is a Member of the Board of Directors in the following organisations:- Institute of Insurance of South Africa (IISA); Henley Business School Academic Board; South African Insurance Association (SAIA); Deputy Chair of South African Insurance Crime Bureau (SAICB). In 2003 he co-founded Black Insurance Professionals of Southern Africa (BIPSA). He was awarded the Green Number in 2012 (for obtaining Ten Comrades Marathon-89.9kms Medals).
In 2015 he was appointed by the Minister of Transport into the National Road Safety Advisory Council whose aim is to advise the Minister on combatting road fatalities in South Africa.
He is the initiator and Pretoria Chapter Chair of the mentorship programme for the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO) designed to guide high potential future leaders to achieve their career objectives.
Prior to joining Discovery, Themba worked for Rubico Consulting Services where he led a team that was responsible for the design of the accounting processes and client management systems. Some of Themba’s work history includes time with Siemens Ltd and Durban Metro Waste Water Services where he was responsible for budgeting and commercial accounting systems.
A cost and management accountant by training, Themba holds a Henley Executive MBA and other qualifications including. 1999, Supervisory Management, Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (GIMT), 2002, Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators, South Africa; 2003, Discovery Leadership Academy, Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS); 2004, Leadership Advancement Programme University of Cape Town- Graduate School of Business (UCT/ GSB).
