Edward Dutton started his career in retail. Over 11 years he was a Merchandise Buyer at Marks and Spencer, joined an e-commerce start up and worked as a consultant at Kingfisher developing their new online businesses.

He joined AXA Insurance in 2001 and was Personal Lines Underwriting and Pricing Director across Direct, Intermediary and Corporate Partnership channels. In 2010 he moved to be Director of Underwriting and Claims at British Gas Insurance (BGI). In 2014 he was made Chief Executive Officer of BGI.

BGI writes over £1 billion Gross Written Premium, insuring nearly 9 million boilers, appliances, plumbing and electrical systems for 4 million customers and is approximately the 15th largest insurance company in the UK.

In addition, he is leading the development of Centrica’s Connected Home Insurance proposition utilising Centrica’s Hive devices and the British Gas Services infrastructure.
