Bhaskar’s recent experience has been to transform and manage businesses. His current role is as the COO of a business which undertakes multi-billion dollar trade finance risk purchase & distribution business which is being transformed into a three hub global model and increase trade finance products and assets under distribution by orders of magnitude. He has transformed and run the sales and business development function for Global Banking, Global Trade and Receivables Finance, the Payments and Cash Management in HSBC. He was also responsible for managing the Finance COO Office & Programme office for Global Finance for a $2b transformation programme.
Prior to HSBC, he was the Head of Strategy and Change (COO), Global Infrastructure & IT Operations for ABN AMRO (now Royal Bank of Scotland) and helped deliver the largest and most complex financial industry merger integration process from the technology infrastructure functional perspective. He has also headed up Strategy, Architecture and Change Management for ABN AMRO Europe’s IT Division and has lead the Investment Bank’s Basel II programme; Strategic Risk Architecture programme, Strategic Services Cost reduction programme etc.
He has worked at Salomon Smith Barney (now Citigroup); Goldman Sachs; Barclays Capital and other several international banks in a variety of trading and risk management roles as well as for PriceWaterhouseCoopers and SunGard. His second doctorate is in Politics & Terrorism from the Department of War Studies, Kings College London; his first was in computational finance and artificial intelligence from Manchester Business School, Manchester. Besides holding an MBA (Finance and IT) and BSc (Mathematics), he is a visiting professor at several universities around the world and blogs/writes on various topics. He is a member of the UK Innovation Council; UK Corporate Responsibility Group; Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Home Start Hillingdon; trustee at The Mayhew Animal Home, a Business Advisor at Enactus, an Executive Coach at TeachFirst and an Ambassador at STEMNet; a sponsor of DISHA (an orphanage in India). He is a keen photographer, logographer, cyclist, amateur historian and bibliophile. He also dabbles in cooking where he displays more enthusiasm than skill.
