Dennis Sparks, SVP, Chief Underwriting Officer. Dennis is a credentialed actuary (ACAS) and respected insurance executive with more than 30 years of experience in an array of different roles, lines of business and industries. Prior to joining Transverse, Dennis was co-lead of Safehold Special Risk (SSR) as the EVP, Chief Underwriting Officer, and Chief Actuary. Safehold Special Risk is a specialist MGU writing more than 20 different niche segments with multiple carrier partners within the program space and gross written premiums approaching $500M. During his 11 years with Safehold Special Risk, SSR grew from 6 programs and $75M in premium to over 20 programs and nearly $500M in premium, while consistently achieving profitability for the carrier partners. Prior to SSR, Dennis was the SVP, Chief Actuary and Head of Ceded Reinsurance for Catlin US when operations were started in 2006. Dennis led the US due diligence efforts on the acquisition of Wellington (US operations). Additionally, Dennis has held roles of Chief Financial Officer, Chief Actuary and Treasurer for other insurance companies while working for Direct Insurance carriers, reinsurers and an MGU during his career. Dennis began his career as an actuarial student with USF&G in Baltimore, MD.
