Dean LaPierre is Chief Underwriting Officer, Property & Marine, of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance. Over his career, Dean has served in numerous positions, both foreign and domestic, in the Commercial Property sector including Engineering, Underwriting, and Underwriting Management. His specialties include high hazard property, construction, and catastrophe risk. Dean has been Underwriter to many of the Fortune 100 companies in the areas of Energy, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Natural Resources. He is both a licensed Professional Engineer and Property/Casualty Surplus Lines Broker. Dean holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic University. He is certified by the USEPA in Emergency Risk Management and holds the Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designation.
